Most couples get on the calendar within a few weeks after being proposed to. I always recommend scheduling it as soon as possible so you can have to images to announce your engagement to the world.

If you can and have that desire, I will always say go for it! But it’s not a necessity.

If you do your own hair and makeup, remember that nude lipstick will make you look like you have no lips, so select a color that will show. For all your makeup, apply it a little heavier than you would for daily use, so it will show up better in camera. Hair is almost always best when left down and loose.

I probably get asked this question the most! I think neutral/muted colors look amazing!

Don’t be afraid to go more formal than you usually dress. Some of my favorite engagement sessions were when the clients went evening gown formal, it’s just so much fun!

Long flowy dresses REALLY work well for engagement sessions. But it that’s not you at all, don’t stress. Jeans or a more casual look still can work great.

All of my outdoor portrait sessions take place about an hour before sunset. This varies based on the time of year, and the location! I can also do sunrise sessions if you’re not a morning person.

I do offer a discount if you book your wedding at the same time that you book your engagement session. But you do not have to book your wedding with me in order to have me do your engagement session - they can be booked totally separate.

Absolutely! My engagement sessions are booked separately from my weddings, so there’s no reason you can’t have a different photographer for your wedding. But if you don’t have a wedding photographer yet, I’d love you to give me a try for your engagement session and if you love your pictures (which you will!), I’d be happy to book your wedding date as well.

Most of my travel sessions are for weddings, so YES!

I’ve had clients from Idaho hire me to bring along to their destination weddings, and I also book destination weddings for clients I’ve never met before.
